So, a little off topic but I hope I helped the OP. ![]() I am glad I wrote this response, I longer am that mad at Altiverb, cause I probably have replaced the use of IRs with old school mixing techniques. For music, DIR DRUM MICS samples have ZERO air, so I mainly use OH or ROOM ambient mic samples and only use the DIR drum kit samples for the transient and placement in the sound stage (left, center, right). I use a combination of EMT plate reverb and the old STUDER tape delay trick to create AIR and SPACE in a mix. My new SPACE reverb of choice is the UAD Ocean Way Studio plugin if I can't recreate any space with reverbs and delays (which I probably do more than use OWS plugin). come to think of it, I don't use WAVES IR that much either anymore. I have replaced it with WAVES IR, not as many spaces but sounds OK. So, AV6 under SONAR 圆4, somewhat works but causes CRASHES running on both bit bridges, so I have abandoned using it. Usually, I don't bash a company but sadly, ALTIVERB has promised or hinted that AV7 WIN 圆4 will be available soon (still waiting after more than 3 years). Sorry to talk mostly about other reverbs! The IR library is a separate (voluntary) download after your purchase by the way. Go through a site like for an even better price. I'm on a larger bundle now but I originally got it with Renaissance Maxx, a popular and not very expensive bundle (when it's on sale). Waves IR-L is in many of their bundles by the way, and they're always having sales. I guess with third party IRs, which I don't know much about. Many people on here use a free Melda plugin, or Perfect Space/Pristine Space which was at one point included with Sonar. I personally use Waves IR-L, mainly because you get a nice large IR response library with it from Waves. It's a shame but I think we should consider Altiverb a Mac only product. They won't even indicate a global release time, yet they keep updating the OSX version. They keep saying they will have a Windows version at some point but I wouldn't take it too seriously. Altiverb 7 is not, even though the Mac version has been out for over two years. Altiverb 6 has been available for Windows for a long time. ![]()
